The next day was Matt's real birthday and I made a "Happy Birthday" banner, inspired by my favorite crafty person & sister-in-law, Aly. Then I hung up his pictures on the birthday wall. I made him one of his favorite desserts his Grandma Dunn used to make, Chocolate Eclair Cake. He requested a vegan meal, but I procrastinated and didn't find anything I liked but found this vegetarian recipe instead called Tomato Corn Pie. It was perfect and he loved it! I want to make that again really soon. I also lit candles and cleaned the house up really nice. It was a quiet birthday with just our little family. He loved it.

Aleena loved the Chocolate Eclair Cake. She was happy it was her Daddy's birthday.
Then on Saturday, I got up early and decided to make a birthday breakfast since he wakes up too early for me to do it during the week. I made Strawberry Scones. They came out perfectly! Super moist and delicious, just like Aly's (where I got the lovely recipe from). Later that day we had my family over and we celebrated his birthday "Korean" style. We had Korean barbecue with kimchee and a light dessert with red beans, shaved ice, ice cream, mochi and fresh fruit. Luckily we found this Korean market that had most of the food prepared. Matt enjoyed his birthday week, and Aleena loved pointing at the banner, and having me say "Happy Birthday". She also loved looking at the pictures of her daddy on the wall. It was fun spoiling him and seeing how happy he was all week.
Happy Birthday Matty, I love you!

Happy Birthday, Matt!! Sorry we intruded on your final celebration day... But glad we got to see you! BTW, Goldie- I LOVE the picture of the chocolate eclair cake with the pic of MAtt in the background- just really cool.
It was so good to see you guys. I haven't checked blogs FOREVER. I was so embarrassed that I didn't know you were having another baby and that his name is Issac. I love the name.
So, happy birthday Matt and congrats on the little one, and THANK YOU for stopping to see us. We love spending what little time we do with you. I wish we could do it more often. . .
Stay tuned for plans to meet in Vegas, right?
I hope your drive home was okay.
I need the chocolate eclair cake recipe, it looks delicious. It looks a lot like one I make that we call Moon Pie. It's made with cream puff dough as the crust and then pudding and cool whip on top.
