Vacation Part III: Virginia

This last leg of the trip was bitter-sweet. We wanted to see Grandma Dunn (Matt's Grandma) before she got too ill and booked the trip last minute. While we were in Idaho we learned she had passed away. We were all very sad, but glad she wasn't suffering anymore. We soon gathered together in Virginia. I loved being around the family and especially loved seeing Aleena having so much fun with her cousins. We had a beautiful service for Grandma. I learned so much about her and what an amazing woman she was and is. It was also fun seeing pictures of her when she was young and having lots of fun. She looked gorgeous. I felt blessed to be a part of the family. Grandma Dunn made me feel welcomed and loved our little Aleena Irene (Irene named after Grandma). She will be missed, but I'm sure she's happy to be reunited with Papa Dunn.

Aleena and Grandma Dunn last October. We took Grandma to a reception to see her former co-workers. We had a great time, and she looked like she had so much fun talking with everyone and introducing "Aleena Irene".

Uncle Kurt and the cousins playing Grandmommy's piano.

Aleena had so much fun with her cousin Claudia. Claudia fixed Aleena's hair and picked out her outfit.

Jumping on the trampoline. Aleena was old enough to enjoy it this time.

The short walk through the woods from Grandmommy's house to the lake.

Aleena not sure what kind of beach this is. It doesn't look like our beaches at home :)

Aleena's first time swimming in the lake.

Aleena looking at one of the many cats on Grandma Dunn's porch.

The boys enjoying their last rest on Grandma Dunn's couch before the "couch-burning-bonfire".

The monkeys jumping on the couch. Lots of loud and pretty fireworks were shot off of the couch before it became a bonfire. Aleena liked looking at the fireworks, but didn't like the loud noise they made.
We had a good ending to a sweet vacation.
