Hits the Spot: Joe's Italian Ice

Matt and I signed a new lease on our apartment for another year. We're making it a goal to keep exploring Orange County and take advantage of all it has to offer since we'll be staying for a while.

A few weeks ago Matt wanted a chocolate soft serve ice cream cone dipped in cherry. We went to Joe's Italian Ice in Garden Grove. I'm not a big fan of ice cream or soft serve, but this was certainly some soft serve I'd love to have more of. It was delicious. The prices were less than desirable, but the quality and service was excellent. It's like a little taco stand without an inside seating area and they give you your order through he window. They will also give you samples of their Italian ice and soft serve if you're having a hard time deciding. That part probably won me over. Free? Okay :) The Italian ice was very tasty, and the employees were very friendly. The big disappointment was that they didn't have a cherry shell for Matt's chocolate soft serve. Poor Matt. Instead he settled for butterscotch shell for his chocolate soft serve. I had the chocolate soft serve and a peanut butter shell. They served really big portions, so I guess you get your money's worth. Next time I'm going to try their Italian ice mixed with soft serve. It looked delicious.

My ratings:

A for service
C for price
C for atmosphere/ambience

They have a big menu with a good selection of frozen treats.
